Bactrim DS medication combines two antibiotics: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections (including middle ear, urinary tract, respiratory, and intestinal infections). It is also used to prevent and cure a specific type of pneumonia called pneumocystis. Bactrim DS is a medication that treats a variety of bacterial infections in the body. It has two active ingredients: trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole. These components work together to kill bacteria or prevent them from multiplying, assisting the body in fighting illnesses.
Bactrim DS is often used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), which arise when bacteria enter the urinary tract and cause symptoms such as painful or burning urination, frequent urination, and lower stomach pain. It can also be used to treat respiratory tract infections like pneumonia and bronchitis, which are caused by bacteria in the lungs or airways. Respiratory tract infections can cause coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fever.
